Uchoten Brewing in Suwa, Nagano, has released the collaboration beer "élan" brewed with FARMENTRY of Kashihara, Nara. Designed as a Belgian amber dubbel, it is being sold at the taproom and in cans.
Nagano Prefecture's Suwa-based Uchoten Brewing has released a new beer, "élan - Elan-," brewed in collaboration with FARMENTRY of Kashihara, Nara. The style is Belgian Amber Double (dubbel). It is 7.0% ABV, bitterness is listed as 40, and carbonation pressure as 2.00. It is available in 360 ml cans and on draft.
This collaboration combines FARMENTRY's specialty Belgian interpretation with Uchoten Brewing's malt design and fermentation expertise. The recipe uses several malts with different roasting levels, along with house-made Belgian candi sugar. The yeast carries on the Belgian yeast previously used at Uchoten Brewing, adding esters reminiscent of ripe apples and green apples, impressions of dried fruit and caramel, and extra depth from French oak chips.
Uchoten Brewing is a brewery based in Suwa, Nagano, that makes beer centered on classic styles. While drawing on the brewing design skills it has cultivated through pilsners, lagers, and Belgian styles, this "élan" is said to balance a body that does not lean on heaviness with a warm finish. It is sold at Uchoten Brewing's taproom and also at the nearby Yoiyoi Saketen.
