Overview

Choryo Brewery, located in Koryo Town, Nara, has introduced a new craft beer called Ride The Dragon through its online shop. The beer is a West Coast IPA rebuilt by Choryo from a collaboration beer originally brewed with Barebottle in San Francisco.

According to the product description, the beer highlights the aromas of Mosaic and Superdelic. Rather than simply reissuing the collaboration beer as it was, Choryo has reworked it under its own label and perspective. That gives the release a clear identity: it keeps the collaboration’s origin while presenting it as a Choryo interpretation.

Choryo Brewery is known in Nara for producing sake as well as beer, and it has continued to expand its craft beer lineup from its base in Koryo Town. Ride The Dragon is sold as a 360 ml six-bottle set, and shipments are scheduled for on or after June 18. For drinkers looking for a hop-forward West Coast IPA, the release offers a chance to see how a Japanese brewery reframes an overseas collaboration.

By starting from a Barebottle collaboration and rebuilding it in Choryo’s own context, the release reflects where the brewery’s craft beer program stands now.
