Totopia Brewery is a small brewery founded in 2022 in Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture. Centered on making fresh, hop-forward beers, it also puts effort into expressions that incorporate fruits and botanicals, and is known for releases with a distinctive worldview.
The new release this time is "Boxphobia / Boxphobia (Fear of Boxes)." The style is West Coast DIPA, and the ABV is 8.0%. The hops used are Nectaron, NZ Cascade, Krush Cryo, and Simcoe Cryo.
According to the tasting notes shown in the post, the beer is built on a crisp, tight body layered with citrus aromas, along with dank flavors, a fruity pine character, and a deeper bitterness. True to a West Coast DIPA, it finishes with a clear sense of aromatic spread and a sharply defined bitterness.
The sales schedule is staggered: BtoB from March 31 at 15:00, and BtoC from April 3 at 19:00. Totopia Brewery's "phobia" series has consistently showcased the character of each hop variety, and this Boxphobia can be seen as another entry in that line. For drinkers who enjoy strongly hop-driven IPAs, it is an easy new release to watch.
