Release overview
Totopia Brewery, based in Nagakute, Aichi, has unveiled a collaboration beer with Kyoto Brewing: K-philia#2 / K-philia Two (KBC phobia). The beer is a DDH West Coast TIPA with an ABV of 9.5%, brewed with Simcoe Cryo, Dolcita, Krush Cryo, Strata CGX, and Grapefruit Kush.
Founded in 2022, Totopia Brewery positions itself as a small brewery focused on hop-heavy beers, as well as expressions that incorporate fresh fruit and botanicals. This new release fits that profile closely.
According to the Instagram caption, the beer pours a bright, clear golden color. A grassy aroma rises from the glass, followed by layered bitterness and crisp grapefruit notes. The finish is described as clean and sharp, giving the beer a distinctly West Coast profile.
The release is scheduled in two stages: BtoB starts on July 7 at 3:00 PM, and BtoC starts on July 10 at 7:00 PM. That staggered rollout suggests the beer will first reach trade accounts before opening to consumers a few days later.
For drinkers who enjoy a clear, bitter, citrus-forward West Coast TIPA, this is a release worth noting. The collaboration with Kyoto Brewing also makes it an interesting example of how Totopia's hop-focused approach can be expressed through a partner brewer's lens.
