HOJO Brewing & Stays stands along the coast in Hojo, Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, and is a craft beer brewery and whole-house rental inn said to be "the closest brewery to the sea in Japan." On the first floor, the taproom serves beer brewed on site straight from the keg, while the second floor offers a stay with views of the Seto Inland Sea.

What the shop is currently introducing is an online-shop-exclusive "five-bottle" set. It combines one bottle each of IPA, Bitter, Laurel Saison, New Zealand Saison, and Rye Saison, and also comes with original goods such as a sticker and a coaster. Unlike drinking the beers one by one, the lineup makes it easy to compare the range of flavors the brewery aims to express.

Among them, Bitter is built around a distinctly English-bitter maltiness. In addition to aromas reminiscent of nuts, caramel, and raisins, its bitterness is restrained at IBU 14, making it easy to pair with food. IPA is said to feature a grapefruit-like aroma, while the Saison beers are characterized by citrusy brightness and pepper-like spice, making this a lineup that reflects HOJO Brewing & Stays' balance of drinkability and individuality.

As a brewery with an oceanfront location and lodging facilities, it is a great fit not only for enjoying a drink on site but also for taking the beers home and savoring them at a relaxed pace. It is also interesting to follow the seasonal flavors and move back and forth between the core lineup and limited sets.
