Big Hand Bros Brewery's Beer Note has posted the new "Corkite". The published specs are ALC 4.0% / IBU 34, and the style is Irish Stout.

The official description says it expresses a fragrant, full-bodied roasted aroma along with a subtle fruitiness reminiscent of cassis. While the body is light, it balances the richness and bitterness derived from roasted malt, and finishes dry and crisp. It sounds like a classic-minded stout that is not too heavy and is easy to enjoy glass after glass in everyday settings.

As for sales, the site says 500 ml cans are currently on sale. It looks like a beer that will appeal not only to those who want to enjoy the roasty character typical of dark beer, but also to those who want to avoid a heavy drinking feel.

The brewery is based in Nishijin, Kyoto, and has been brewing since 2023. The brewery is set up in the basement of a retro building, and it emphasizes brewing at a "size that can be kept closely in view" by keeping the tank scale modest. The head brewer, drawing on experience in the UK, champions making beer freely without locking into a single style, and this release of "Corkite" reflects that approach.

As a beer that balances roasted depth with a clean finish, it is a new release worth adding to the spring lineup and checking out.
