Bighand Bros. Beer unveils Cancrinite, an orange peel porter with Tsumari Beer
Bighand Bros. Beer, based in Kyoto’s Nishijin area, has introduced Cancrinite, a new collaboration brew with Tsumari Beer. The orange peel porter features gentle citrus aroma, cocoa-like sweetness, and a restrained roast profile, and is available in 500 ml cans.
Bighand Bros. Beer, based in Nishijin, Kyoto, has released a new beer called Cancrinite. The brewery, founded in 2023, focuses on classic British styles and small-batch brewing, while giving each beer a mineral-inspired name.
Cancrinite is an Orange Peel Porter with 4.5% ABV and 22 IBU. It was brewed in collaboration with Tsumari Beer from Niigata, using the orange peel character that Tsumari Beer is known for working with. The result is described as having a soft orange peel aroma and a gentle, cocoa-like sweetness.
The roast character is kept light, making it approachable even for drinkers who do not usually gravitate toward dark beer. Rather than leaning on heavy bitterness or strong roast, the beer aims for balance and drinkability.
Bighand Bros. Beer says the beer is being sold in 500 ml cans on its official site. For fans of porters and collaboration releases, Cancrinite offers a clear example of how a Kyoto brewery can put its own touch on a dark style without making it feel overly heavy.
