Awa Brewing Adds Two Yuzu-Driven Beers to Its New Arrivals Lineup
Awa Brewing in Fukui City has added `Runner's High` and `Yuzu Dragon` to its official lineup as new beer arrivals. Both center on yuzu, but take on different expressions as a pilsner and a sake pale ale.
Awa Brewing is a Fukui-born craft beer brand with a taproom at MINIE on the 1st floor of FUKUMACHI BLOCK in central Fukui City. On its official website, it carries the slogan "People can connect even more through beer." and has continued to build up awards while also using locally produced six-row barley malt.
In this latest lineup, two yuzu-based beers stand out. One is the yuzu pilsner `Runner's High`. The other is the sake pale ale `Yuzu Dragon`.
`Yuzu Dragon` is brewed with Japanese sake yeast BMK3 and yuzu peel. It is designed with ginjo-like aromas reminiscent of pear, green apple, and strawberry, layered with hop-derived notes of berry and apricot, plus the refreshing brightness of yuzu. At 5.5% ABV and 14.9 IBU, its defining feature is that it aims for both the floral expressiveness of sake and the crisp refreshment of beer.
Meanwhile, `Runner's High`, as its name suggests, is a yuzu pilsner. Awa Brewing's signature balance of aromatic character and drinkability should come through in a lighter, more brisk lager context.
For a company with a wide expressive range spanning IPA, pilsner, and stout, these two yuzu beers are a fitting addition that showcase the brand's strengths. Available at the Fukui taproom and through the official online store, this is a lineup that invites side-by-side tasting with meals.
