Yorocco Beer unveils 'Delight Called Quest,' a gin-barrel-finished saison with YAMATOUMI
Kamakura-based Yorocco Beer has introduced 'Delight Called Quest,' a collaboration with YAMATOUMI, the craft gin producer on the shore of Lake Nojiri in Nagano. The 5% ABV saison traces back to a brew from June 2024 and was shaped through barrel aging and distillation.
Delight Called Quest is a limited-release Gin Barrel Finished Saison at 5% ABV. It started as a saison brewed in June 2024 under the name `soil みんなのよろこびーる`, a project linking Tokyo's `eatrip soil`, `YAMATOUMI` in Nagano, and Yorocco Beer in Kamakura.
The beer was brewed with herbs grown at YAMATOUMI's farm. Part of the base beer was moved to Yorocco Beer and rested in wooden barrels from July 2024 through November 2025. Another portion was taken to YAMATOUMI in August 2024, distilled, aged in French oak, and released in July 2025 as `rejoice`.
After that, the gin barrel used at YAMATOUMI was brought back to Kamakura, and the saison that had been aging at Yorocco Beer was transferred into it for several more months before bottling. The batch was small, about 500 bottles in 375 ml format, and the brewery said its stock had already left the building by the time of the post. The first tasting sale was set for the next day's event at `eatrip soil`, with glass pours also planned for a later event at `fieldales` in Nagano.
