Oirase Brewery has shared an exhibitor introduction for OIRASE BEER Oktoberfest 2026, scheduled for September 19 and 20 at Michi-no-Eki Oirase Roman Park in Towada, Aomori. Admission is free, and the event is planned as an autumn gathering of beer, food, and music centered on the Oirase and Towada area.
This post features a straw-grilled seafood vendor from Tosa-Shimizu, Kochi. According to the announcement, bonito straw grilling is said to have originated in Tosa-Shimizu, and the booth will bring seafood directly from there. A fish expert named Takizawa selects the catch with a simple standard: something he would truly want to eat himself. Live straw-grilling demonstrations will also be held in front of visitors, pairing the aroma of straw smoke with freshly prepared katsuo.
OIRASE BEER is based in Towada City, Aomori, and brews with Oirase spring water from the Hakkoda mountains. Since sales began in 1997, the brand has been loved for more than a quarter century, and it also operates a brewery restaurant.
With the brewery approaching its 30th anniversary in 2027, this year’s Oktoberfest brings together local craft beer and regional food in one place. The addition of Tosa-Shimizu’s straw-grilled seafood should make it a memorable bridge between Oirase beer culture and the flavors of the sea.
