Kamakura Beer to Release Limited British Heritage Collaboration Set
Kamakura Beer will join Kamakura Ham Tomioka and the British Antique Museum BAM Kamakura to release the limited Kamakura British Heritage Set on September 23. The collaboration brings together a brown ale, traditional cured ham, and a Sherlock Holmes-inspired label.
A three-way collaboration rooted in Kamakura
Kamakura Beer announced a new British-themed collaboration on Instagram on September 15, 2026. The post featured Union Jack and crown emojis, hinting at the project that has now been revealed as the Kamakura British Heritage Set.
The set will go on sale September 23 through Kamakura Ham Tomioka’s official online shop. Only 500 sets will be available. The price is ¥11,000, including tax, and sales are scheduled to continue through November 23.
Brown ale paired with traditional ham
Each set includes one 600-gram cured cloth-wrapped loin ham from Kamakura Ham Tomioka and two 330-milliliter bottles of brown ale produced through a collaboration between Kamakura Beer and BAM Kamakura.
The brown ale is described as having rich malt character and aroma, making it a natural match for the ham’s deep flavor and moist texture. Its original label draws on BAM Kamakura’s recreation of the world of Sherlock Holmes.
Britain’s influence on Kamakura
The project reflects the historical links between Britain and Kamakura. Kamakura Ham Tomioka traces its ham-making tradition to techniques passed down by British national William Curtis during the Meiji era. Kamakura Beer, founded in 1997 as Kamakura’s first craft brewery, also draws on the ale traditions associated with British pub culture.
By bringing together food, beer, and antiques, the limited set offers a taste of Kamakura’s cultural history. Part of the proceeds will be donated to activities that preserve the city’s natural landscape and historic streetscape.
