New beer spotlight

KAKUIDA Brewery is introducing a new release called Wood Barrel Milk Stout. According to the brewery's post, the beer is matured slowly in sherry barrels and aims for a refined profile where gentle acidity and a milky sweetness come together.

First cup sales at the festival

The beer will make its first cup sales at Ogi-onsa Yoisai, held over two days at Waterfront Park in Kagoshima City. The brewery will be on site from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on July 3, and from noon to 9:00 p.m. on July 4. Alongside craft beer, the venue will feature food trucks and local drinks, including shochu, giving visitors a wider taste of Kagoshima.

A brewery rooted in black vinegar brewing

KAKUIDA Brewery is located inside the black vinegar restaurant Kurozu no Sato Kakida in Kirishima, Kagoshima. The brewery builds on the fermentation knowledge developed through black vinegar production and uses spring water from Kirishima in its brewing. That background gives its beers a distinct identity: a craft brewery shaped by the techniques and materials of a long-standing fermentation culture.

Wood Barrel Milk Stout is a good example of that approach. By leaning into barrel aging and presenting the beer at a local festival first, KAKUIDA Brewery is giving drinkers a chance to experience a new release in a setting that combines food, drinks, and regional character.
