Newly tapped

At vivo! BEER + DININGBAR, a craft-beer pub tucked away near the east exit of Ikebukuro, Mojiko Retro Beer’s Weizen has been tapped. It is a German-style wheat beer made with more than 50% wheat malt, and the shop describes it as having banana-like aromatics. That soft body makes it easy to pair with food.

A wide tap list

The tap list also includes house collaboration beers with CYCAD BREWING, such as “42 (forty two)” and “16 (sixteen),” plus Japanese labels like Kyoto Brewing’s “Natsu no Kimagure,” Inkhorn Brewing’s “Java Finch 2026#2” and “Arotic Tern,” Be Easy Brewing’s “Tohoku 6Hop,” Shiga Kogen Beer’s “Italian Sttle Pils,” Minoh Beer’s “BATON 007” and stout, and more. The lineup stretches from pale ales and hazy IPAs to pilsner, cider, and dark beers, with Brasserie Dieu DuCiel!, TOKYO ALE WORKS, Draft Guinness, and Heartland also on tap.

Visiting info

The bar says it keeps around 20 taps on the wall. On Sundays and public holidays it opens at 3 p.m., with regular hours of 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays, and 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. The former point-card program, “Kanpai! Card,” has already ended, so checking the latest notice before you go is sensible.
