Overview of the New Release

And Beer Katsunuma Brewery has announced its new beer, "Super-Ripe Nanko Ume ~Weizen~." It has an ABV of 6.6% and is styled as a Fruit Ale. This release uses super-ripe Kishu Nanko plums grown by Ume Boys in Minabe, Wakayama Prefecture, with plum taking center stage once again this year.

Designed to Bring Out the Plum's Character

According to the post, Kishu Nanko plums shipped directly from Wakayama were turned into syrup with rock sugar to draw out their essence, then matured together with a Weizen beer that has clove- and banana-like flavors. The plums were harvested in 2025, and even after being kept as syrup for a while, their flavor does not fade easily; in fact, it develops a more settled profile over time.

A Collaboration in Its Fifth Year

This collaboration beer with Ume Boys marks its fifth year for And Beer. The post also mentions an episode in which Masashiro Yamamoto from the company helped with the harvest in Minabe Town in the past, showing that the relationship with the production area has continued over time. In recent years, crowdfunding efforts to support plum cultivation have also been carried out, making this more than just a seasonal product and something that has been built up as a project connected to the local community.

Sales Information

This beer is being released sequentially at the company’s own taproom, and sales for the foodservice industry have also begun on its B2B e-commerce site. Based at the brewery in Koshu, Yamanashi, this is a new release that reflects And Beer’s style of expressing the seasonal fruit and its connection to the land through beer.
