Fukuoka Craft Brewing Releases Daimyo Lager
Fukuoka Craft Brewing announced Daimyo Lager on July 13, a new release that pays tribute to the brewery’s roots in Daimyo, Fukuoka. Built on a traditional German pilsner recipe with extra aroma hops, the beer aims for a crisp, clean profile with a bright hop character.
Fukuoka Craft Brewing announced the release of its new beer, Daimyo Lager, on July 13. Daimyo is where the brewery began in July 2017, when it first started as a brewery-restaurant in central Fukuoka. While brewing now takes place in Okagaki, Fukuoka, this release clearly looks back to the company’s origin story.
A lager that traces the brewery’s roots
Daimyo Lager is built on a traditional German pilsner recipe and finished with generous aroma hops. It is listed as a Lager/Pilsner with 4.5% ABV, and the retail price is JPY 658 including tax. According to the brewery, the beer is designed to be crisp and clean, while also carrying a refined hop aroma that gives the lager a more expressive edge.
From Daimyo to Okagaki
The brewery says it started with small tanks beside its taproom in Daimyo, then launched a second chapter in Okagaki in October 2022. Today, Fukuoka Craft Brewing uses natural water drawn from 50 meters underground in Okagaki, and continues to build beers from its base in Fukuoka for broader distribution.
A tribute beer with a clear message
Daimyo Lager is presented as a tribute to the path the brewery has taken: from its first tanks in Daimyo to a larger production site in Okagaki. Rather than chasing novelty for its own sake, the release highlights continuity, craft, and memory. For drinkers familiar with Fukuoka Craft Brewing, it is a straightforward but meaningful addition to the lineup.
