A third collaboration rooted in Okagaki

Fukuoka Craft Brewing, based in Okagaki, Fukuoka, has released the third edition of its Grape Ale, created in collaboration with local winery Budounoki.

Budounoki has spent many years dedicated to winemaking. The collaboration began from the long-held wish of its brewing manager to one day make a beer using grapes grown by the winery itself. The latest release carries that story forward, bringing together Budounoki’s winemaking expertise and Fukuoka Craft Brewing’s approach to craft beer.

Featuring the Fuji no Yume grape

The beer uses Fuji no Yume, a distinctive wine-grape variety grown in Fukuoka Prefecture. Freshly harvested grapes are carefully pressed, and their aromatic juice is incorporated into the brew.

Classified as a Fruit Beer, the Grape Ale has an alcohol content of 5%. Its aroma is described as rich and floral, with the character of wine grapes becoming apparent as soon as the beer is poured. On the palate, it offers abundant fruit flavor balanced by a light and comfortable mouthfeel.

The beer brings together the expressive aroma of wine grapes and the refreshing qualities of beer. It can be enjoyed with food or slowly savored during a relaxed autumn evening.

A taste of local collaboration

Fukuoka Craft Brewing brews in Okagaki under the concept of bringing craft beer culture to Fukuoka. Influenced by American beer styles, the brewery also operates a taproom and offers brewery tours, giving visitors the chance to enjoy fresh beer and learn about the brewing process.

The third Grape Ale is a distinctly local collaboration: grapes from an Okagaki winery meet the brewing techniques of an Okagaki brewery. For drinkers interested in beers made with regional ingredients, it offers an opportunity to experience the character of the area in a single glass.
