New tap on May 5

Kichi Brewing, the brewery in Horikiri Shobuen, Katsushika Ward, tapped a new original beer, "愛羽亞," on May 5. The post noted that the previous release, "Happy Island~Utsukushima Fukushima~," had sold out the day before, making this a replacement release.

This time, "愛羽亞" is brewed with hassaku delivered from Hagi in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The style is Belgian Wit w/ Hassaku, Orange Peel & Coriander Seed, a recipe that combines Belgian yeast with hassaku, orange peel, and coriander seed. The brewery says the result layers citrus character with spice, finishing dry with a light aftertaste.

A beer true to Kichi Brewing

Kichi Brewing is a Katsushika brewery that positions itself as a neighborhood beer shop rooted in everyday downtown life. In the Horikiri Shobuen Station area, its appeal lies in offering craft beer without any stiffness or pretense. It has consistently released original beers with distinctive names and flavors, and this time as well, it folds the origin of its ingredients into the beer's story.

If you're heading out for a drink

From this post, it is clear that this Belgian wit centers on the fresh aroma of fruit-derived character. It should work well as a beer with food, and the bright acidity of hassaku plus coriander's aroma makes it easy to pair with light appetizers or fried dishes. Enjoying it slowly in the taproom is one option, but its easygoing compatibility with outside food is also part of Kichi Brewing's appeal.

The post also teases the next release, "革我理 (Kakugari)," drawing attention to the brewery's future original beer lineup as well. For anyone in Katsushika who wants to keep up with new beers that make use of local ingredients, this is an easy moment to pay attention.
