Choryo Shuzo Announces L.A.F.A Peach Lemon Tea, a Low-Alcohol Ale with Japanese Tea and Peach
Nara-based Choryo Shuzo has announced L.A.F.A Peach Lemon Tea, a low-alcohol ale built around cold-brewed Japanese black tea, white peach, and lemon. With restrained sweetness, gentle acidity from white koji, and a dry finish, the beer is designed to evoke a refreshing fruit tea.
Choryo Shuzo, based in Koryo, Kitakatsuragi District, Nara Prefecture, has announced its low-alcohol ale L.A.F.A Peach Lemon Tea. Shipments are scheduled to begin on or after September 16, 2026.
Japanese black tea at the center
The beer uses the Japanese black tea cultivar Sayamakaori, cold-brewed to bring out a clear floral aroma. Soft white-peach notes and the fresh lift of lemon are layered over that tea character, creating a profile that suggests fruit tea as much as beer.
Sweetness is intentionally restrained. The peach contributes a gentle, rounded fragrance, while lemon adds freshness. White-koji-derived acidity gives the beer a soft tartness, and the finish is described as dry, helping keep the overall impression light and clean. Its low-alcohol character should make it approachable as a casual refreshment or a pairing option for lighter dishes.
Choryo Shuzo’s brewing perspective
Choryo Shuzo is a sake producer based in Koryo, Nara. Drawing on its experience as a traditional brewery, the company explores combinations that extend beyond conventional beer ingredients, including Japanese tea and white koji.
L.A.F.A Peach Lemon Tea brings together delicate tea aromatics, familiar fruit notes, and gentle koji acidity. Once shipments begin, the key point to watch will be how the floral character of Sayamakaori bridges the soft peach aroma and lemon freshness, while the dry finish keeps the beer balanced.
