Limited release for the summer season
Nanki Shirahama Nagisa Beer, based in Shirahama, Wakayama, began selling its limited-edition Pilsner on August 8. In its post, the brewery highlighted Shirahama’s peak summer season, which kicks off with fireworks on August 10, positioning the beer as a natural fit for the hot months ahead.
According to the brewery’s official site, the beer is a lager built around one of the most familiar beer styles in Japan. Nagisa Beer says it uses the traditional German double decoction method to draw out a deeper malt character. It then layers in hops that add sharp bitterness along with floral and herbal notes, creating a finish that is crisp up front yet leaves a subtle body and aromatic aftertaste.
Nagisa Beer is a local brewery rooted in the resort area of Nanki Shirahama. The company also emphasizes its use of Tomita no Mizu, a local water source linked to the Kumano Kodo area, as brewing water. That focus on local water and regional character has long shaped the brewery’s lineup, and this seasonal Pilsner fits neatly into that approach alongside its regular beers such as Pale Ale and American Wheat.
