Todai-ji's cherry blossoms and a pint in Naramachi

Nara City's "Nara Beer Naramachi Brewery" shared on Instagram that the Somei Yoshino cherry trees at Todai-ji have reached full bloom. According to the post, some of the trees have already begun to lose their blossoms, so this weekend may be the last chance to enjoy the flowers.

The brewery makes craft beer in Naramachi, Nara's old downtown district, and serves its house beers on site. A key attraction is the chance to enjoy both a springtime Nara streetscape and locally rooted beer at the same time.

Taps introduced in the post

- Naramachi Ale (Pale Ale)
- Haku (Weizen)
- Kuro (Stout)
- Ao (IPA)
- Koharu Blanche (Saison)

Limited-time beers

- Strawberry Weizen (Weizen)
- New Zealand-W (W-IPA)
- Spice Rich Ale (Spice Ale)

Timed to the spring flower-viewing season, the lineup spans everything from light, easy-drinking Weizens and Saisons to IPAs with pronounced hop character. If you stop by before or after a walk around the Todai-ji area, it should be easy to pick a pint that fits the mood of the day alongside the seasonal scenery.

The shop is open 11:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 11:00 to 20:00 on weekends and holidays. Last orders are 30 minutes before closing, and the brewery is located in Kidera-cho, Nara City. As long as the cherry blossoms remain at their best, the number of visitors combining sightseeing with a stop here is likely to increase.
