COEDO Brewery to Hold 'A Night of Fireplace and Beer' in Ikebukuro
COEDO Brewery will hold "An Evening to Enjoy COEDO Beer and a Fireplace 2026" on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The event will let guests enjoy a lineup that adds limited-edition labels to the six standard beers, along with special food from chioben, in a building designated as an Important Cultural Property.
According to the event announcement released by COEDO Brewery, the venue is Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan (Toshima Ward, Tokyo), a building known for its architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright and Arata Endo. The event will run from Friday, February 20, 2026, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with last entry and last orders at 8:30 p.m. Admission is 500 yen (cash only), and beer and food will be charged separately.
On the day of the event, in addition to COEDO's standard beers - Ruri, Kyara, Marihana, Shikkoku, Shiro, and Beniaka - limited releases such as Shiromai, FRESH HOP 2025, and Saitama Yuzu are also scheduled to be served. Food will be provided by chioben, led by chef Chiori Yamamoto, with a lineup designed for pairing, including items such as dressings and soups made with beer.
What makes this plan interesting is that it is designed to be enjoyed not only for the beer itself, but also for the "place" and "time of day." Drinking while gathered around a fireplace on a winter night in a historic building with a striking wooden texture creates a context that differs from a typical taproom. The fact that it is mainly standing-room service, requires no reservation, and may be subject to entry limits also suggests an operating policy that prioritizes the experience of staying there over throughput.
Looking at the brewery's background makes the meaning of each glass even clearer. COEDO began with an idea rooted in agriculture in Kawagoe, Saitama, and since brewing started in 1996, it has continued to develop the use of local ingredients and improve quality. Its flagship beer, Beniaka, is derived from Kawagoe sweet potatoes and stands as a symbol of the brand today. More details can also be found on the official HISTORY page.
Those planning to attend should check the precautions in advance, including that entry is not permitted for those under 20, no soft drinks will be available (mineral water will be sold), and bicycles are not allowed. Because this is a special event in an architectural space, understanding the rules in advance should make it possible to appreciate the beer, food, and atmosphere more deeply.
