A Helles Added to the New Menu

Twin Peaks Mountain Brewing, located in Higashi-Arai, Tsukuba City, is a brewery-restaurant where guests can enjoy German-style beer and food. In a post on May 19, the brewery introduced "Munich Helles - The Marmot" as a new menu item.

Features of "The Marmot"

According to the brewery, this Helles has a golden color and a clean, crisp drinking character. It offers a gentle malt presence without being too sweet, and is designed to keep a moderate richness without becoming heavy. Hop aroma is restrained, and the bitterness is not overpowering. With an image inspired by the approachable Alpine marmot, it is described as "a beer for sharing with everyone."

The brewery also says this beer won Bronze at the International Beer Cup 2025 and Silver at the Japan Great Beer Awards 2026, suggesting the high level of refinement in the German-style lagers it does particularly well.

A Drink to Enjoy at the Tsukuba Taproom

The tap list that day included Doctor's Pilsner, Doctor's Kölsch, Doctor's IPA, Dr. Mozart, Doctor's Weizen, Doctor's Mango Weizen, and the newly added Doctor's Munich Helles, Doctor's Export, and Heggebock. The lineup, centered on classic German beer styles while slipping in something new, clearly reflects the brewery's direction.

Twin Peaks Mountain Brewing is a craft beer brewery in Tsukuba run by a German brewmaster who handles everything from recipe development to fermentation. On its official website, the brewery emphasizes its approach of building on traditional German brewing methods while incorporating elements rooted in the local area. The addition of this Helles seems like a clear expression of that philosophy.
