Fukui craft brewery OUR BREWING’s semi-regular IPA “Dino King” took 6th place in the IPA category at the Japan Brewers Cup (JBC) held in February 2026. Among 166 entries in the IPA category, it was the only beer from a Japanese brewery to make the top 6.
Fukui-born craft brewery OUR BREWING announced in a news post published on February 21, 2026 that its semi-regular IPA “Dino King” had placed in the JBC. This year’s JBC featured a total of 1,022 entries. The IPA category was especially fierce, with 166 beers competing in one of the event’s largest divisions, so placing 6th carries real significance.
According to the company’s announcement, breweries from overseas took the top 1 through 5 spots in the IPA category, and “Dino King” was the only beer from a domestic brewery to rank in the top 6. In the Hoppy Lager category, its staple Cold IPA “Hoppy Hour” was also selected for the top 9.
“Dino King” is a West Coast IPA with 7.0% ABV and 48.7 IBU. It is characterized by aromas reminiscent of grapefruit and resin, along with a crisp finish designed for clean drinkability. The recipe also incorporates six-row barley malt grown in Fukui Prefecture, making local ingredients part of the brew and reflecting the brewery’s identity.
OUR BREWING is a brand founded by members who grew up in Fukui, gained brewing experience in Japan and abroad, and then returned home to start the brewery. Near Fukui Station, it operates a brewery equipped with 1,000-liter systems and a taproom, linking the brewing floor and the drinking experience at close range. This result makes visible, in the form of an official competition ranking, the IPA brewing the company has consistently focused on.
