Setouchi Brewery Re-Releases “SETOUCHI MEXICAN LAGER” with a Fresh Look
Setouchi Brewery has re-released its Mexican lager, “SETOUCHI MEXICAN LAGER,” with a fresh new look. Made with corn grits, Vienna malt, and Hallertau Blanc, it has been crafted for a light and refreshing drinking experience. Delivered from the brewery in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, it is a beer that combines Setouchi-style lightness with an international mood.
SETOUCHI BEER, based in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, is a brewery that handles everything in-house, from planning and brewing to shipping. Drawing on the Setouchi climate and local ingredients, it continues to release craft beers that fit naturally into everyday life.
What was announced on Instagram this time was the return of “SETOUCHI MEXICAN LAGER.” The post describes it as the second release following 2025, and positions it as a beer with a refreshed appearance. Its style is Mexican Lager, and its ABV is 4.5%.
The flavor design is straightforward. To create a light body, it uses Japanese corn grits, and by adding Vienna malt, it gains a biscuit-like crispness. Hallertau Blanc hops add a citrus nuance to the beer’s light character. A clean, soft yeast profile is also brought in, resulting in a well-balanced brew.
The label is also striking. Taking its cue from papel picado, the Mexican cut-paper decoration, it layers in imagery of skulls that decorate festive occasions. The result is a lager presented with a bright mood, one that makes you want to enjoy it casually under a blue sky.
Built on the regional character that defines SETOUCHI BEER, this new release also brings in the atmosphere of Mexico. As a beer that shows a different side from a standard lager, it looks set to stand out in the lineup.
