Great Dane Brewing, which operates a brewery in Akiu, Taihaku Ward, Sendai, posted the fourth installment of the brewing story for its craft beer "TENTEN" on Instagram to commemorate the 11th Tenten. Tenten will be held on April 11 and 12, 2026.
Great Dane Brewing introduced the fourth installment of the brewing story for its craft beer "TENTEN," which it is developing to commemorate the 11th Tenten.
Tenten is a craft fair that has continued with the idea of connecting Akiu's makers and shops as individual "dots" to create a larger circle. The 2026 event will be held on April 11 and 12. The venue will be Kinoie Lodge Village, and a record-high 148 vendors are scheduled to take part.
Great Dane Brewing was founded in Wisconsin, USA, in 1994, and opened its brewery in Akiu, Taihaku Ward, Sendai, in January 2024. Its adjoining restaurant is known for offering freshly brewed beer alongside dishes made with ingredients from Miyagi and the Tohoku region. A brewery rooted in the land of Akiu building a beer around a local event is a distinctly site-specific initiative.
This "TENTEN" is positioned as a commemorative beer to help build excitement for the Tenten event, and it is being introduced as a serialized story that shares the brewing process step by step. It is also worth noting that the craft fair and the brewery are resonating with each other in the same Akiu area as they try to convey the appeal of making things.
