Baeren Brewery, based in Morioka, Iwate, is presenting its annual Autumn Beer Subscription for 2026 under the theme “Colors of the German Flag.” According to the brewery’s Instagram post, applications for the three-month program were due to close the following day, with orders available for immediate delivery after registration.

The program takes inspiration from the gold, red, and black of the German flag. Beers are delivered in September, October, and November, creating a seasonal tasting journey through German-inspired styles. The subscription has continued since 2007 and reaches its 20th edition in 2026, the same year Baeren celebrates its 23rd anniversary.

A three-month tour of German styles

The September shipment focuses on gold-colored beers, including filtered and unfiltered versions of Helles. It also includes Kabosu Radler DRY, a crisp, low-alcohol beer made with Japanese kabosu citrus. October moves into red and darker tones with Rotbier, the smoked-beer-inspired Smoked EX, and a German-style hoppy pilsner made with hops grown in Shizukuishi, Iwate.

The November shipment features filtered and unfiltered Dunkel, a dark lager associated with Munich. It also includes Tsunagu Beer Sorachi Ace, dry-hopped with the Iwate-grown hop variety Sorachi Ace for aromas reminiscent of hinoki and lemongrass.

The three-month course includes 12 bottles per month, or 36 bottles in total, and is priced at ¥17,400 including tax. The beers are limited products made specifically for the subscription, although the brewery notes that the contents may change due to production conditions.

Baeren’s program combines its long-standing interest in traditional German brewing with local ingredients and contemporary interpretations. For beer drinkers, it offers a structured way to explore classic styles while following the brewery’s seasonal approach. More information is available through the official Baeren web shop.
