A new beer project inspired by Hanasaki Line

Huitriere, the craft beer brand from Akkeshi, Hokkaido, is launching a new project themed around Hanasaki Line, the local railway connecting Kushiro and Nemuro. The first release is `AKKESHI EMERALD`, which will go on sale from August 1, 2026 at the huîtrière brewery, through the online store, and at selected retailers.

The project is designed to express the four seasons of Hanasaki Line through beer, while donating part of the proceeds to activities that support the railway. Rather than being a one-off release, it is intended as an ongoing regional support initiative.

A summer lager with a clear, bright profile

AKKESHI EMERALD is the summer installment in the series. It is a Summer Hoppy Lager with 5.0% ABV. The beer uses Motueka, El Dorado, and Citra hops, and is described as having a refreshing aroma reminiscent of lime and melon, with a clean, crisp palate. The product page also notes the use of oyster salt, adding a local Akkeshi character to the recipe.

The flavor concept echoes the open scenery along Hanasaki Line, where grasslands, the sea, and a wide sky define the view. The beer is built to feel bright and transparent, with hop-driven freshness layered over a smooth lager base.

A brand rooted in Akkeshi

Huitriere takes its name from a French word meaning a place where oysters grow, and the brand presents itself as a craft beer label that accompanies the time needed for things to be nurtured. From Akkeshi, a town known for oysters, the brewery continues to build beers that reflect its local setting.

With the Hanasaki Line project, Huitriere is linking landscape, memory, and beer while also supporting the railway itself. The brewery says it plans to develop the project seasonally, with four limited releases a year for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, alongside information sharing and partnerships with local organizations. It is a straightforward but meaningful way to turn a regional line into a beer series with a clear sense of place.
