On March 12, Hideji Beer’s Mukabaki Brewery unveiled the first installment of its "30th Anniversary Commemorative Collab Beer Brewing Project" on its official Instagram account. According to the post, the company, which had "hardly ever" done brewery-to-brewery collaborations before, is now making a full-fledged move in connection with its 30th anniversary.

The first collaboration partner announced this time is B.M.B Brewery, which has also been promoting craft beer culture in Miyazaki together with Hideji Beer. On the brewing day, Hideji Beer brewer Mr. Mori reportedly visited B.M.B and worked with Mr. Sato to develop the recipe. The chosen style is West Coast IPA, one of B.M.B’s specialties. The company explained that they also discussed the hop composition, the direction of the aroma, and how to use adjunct ingredients, refining the beer’s overall quality.

The release is scheduled for late April and will be limited in quantity. In addition, the project plans collaborations with three companies in total, and the second and third partners are expected to be announced sequentially.

Hideji Beer is a brewery that continues to brew at the foot of Mount Mukabaki in Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture. According to official information, it was founded in 1996 and relaunched as its current corporate entity in 2010, and it has long emphasized brewing with natural spring water and house-cultured yeast that take advantage of the local natural environment. This 30th anniversary project, which steps beyond local roots toward co-creation with outside partners, is likely to attract the attention of craft beer fans as a sign of the company’s next phase.
