Jibeer Bar Maru Mugi, a small beer pub in Shinjuku’s Arakicho district, is serving five craft beers. The listed price is ¥1,200 for a large pour and ¥900 for a small pour, with an additional ¥100 charge for each beer in this lineup.
The lightest option is Frais Pils from Y.MARKET BREWING in Aichi. At 4.5% ABV, it is described as a French pils with a floral aroma and a crisp, refreshing finish.
For drinkers seeking pronounced bitterness, Brewer’s Nightmare Rye IPA from Baird Brewing in Shizuoka comes in at 7.0% ABV. Spicy rye character and intense bitterness give this IPA a more assertive profile.
Tokyo-based Vector Brewing contributes Onedari White Sox, a 6.5% beer presented as an especially enticing pour with a sweet aroma. From Tochigi, Romantic Village Craft Brewery’s Maple Amber Ale is 6.0% ABV, offering a rich amber ale profile with sweet, toasted notes.
The fifth beer is Little Thing from Hinomoto Brewing in Tokyo. At 4.5% ABV, it is described as light and hoppy, making it a fitting choice for a warm day or an easy first glass.
Maru Mugi is located on the second floor of Ichibankan Building at 1 Arakicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo. The small beer bar is about a three-minute walk from Yotsuya-Sanchome Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. It is open from 6 p.m. to midnight and closed on Tuesdays and public holidays.
