Sakamichi Brewing, the Tachikawa-based brewery and taproom in western Tokyo, introduced two new West Coast Brewing beers in an Instagram post on June 21. WCB, which brews in Mochimune, Shizuoka, is known for releasing new beers every week, often built around expressive hop character.

The lineup

- Soul Sunset
Hazy Pale Ale w/Freestyle NZ04 / 5.0%. This beer is based on the recipe for one of WCB's early beers, Never Enough Bass, and uses the experimental NZ04 hop. WCB describes it as showing grapefruit-like citrus, plus tropical fruit and peach notes.
- Dr. Dankness
Hazy Double IPA / 8.5%. Brewed with Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Mosaic LUPOMAX, it is described as delivering mango and pineapple-like tropical aromas, with hints of peach and melon and a smooth drinking texture.

Sakamichi Brewing itself describes its mission as building a modern, welcoming space in Tachikawa and serving a wide range of beer styles, from familiar lagers and ales to newer interpretations. That makes WCB's hop-forward releases a natural fit for the taproom's lineup.
