FESTBIER WITH KURI is the ninth release in Two Rabbits Brewing Company’s 2026 Hanafuda label project. The series uses traditional Japanese playing-card imagery and highlights a familiar ingredient each month. This edition focuses on kuri, or chestnuts, one of Japan’s defining flavors of autumn.

The beer is built on a classic German-style festbier, a malt-forward lager associated with beer festivals. Extended cold fermentation produces a clean body and a crisp finish. According to the brewery’s description, rich malt depth is layered with a soft, gently roasted chestnut nuance, resulting in a notably smooth mouthfeel.

The beer is priced from ¥660, with two purchase variants available. Its restrained bitterness and polished lager character should make it a natural partner for autumn dishes such as roasted chestnuts, chestnut rice, mushrooms and grilled foods. Rather than relying on intense hop aromas or high alcohol, the beer emphasizes drinkability, malt flavor and the subtle seasonal contribution of chestnuts.

Two Rabbits Brewing was founded in 2018 in Omihachiman, Shiga. The brewery draws on European brewing traditions as well as the pioneering spirit of brewers in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Its motto, “Beer for everyone,” reflects a broad lineup designed to help drinkers discover their preferred styles. The brewery is located near the historic Hachiman-bori canal, and its beers often combine international techniques with Japanese ingredients.

FESTBIER WITH KURI continues that approach by pairing a traditional festbier foundation with a distinctly Japanese autumn ingredient. Available from Two Rabbits Brewing Company, it offers a seasonal way to enjoy the brewery’s clean lager work alongside the mellow aroma and flavor of chestnuts.
