OUR BREWING Releases Tasty Combination, an American Amber Lager Designed for Food Pairing
Fukui-based OUR BREWING has announced Tasty Combination, a new American Amber Lager released on September 10. Built around toasted malt character and hop aromas reminiscent of Muscat grapes and apricots, the beer was developed with food pairing in mind. Its amber color, malt sweetness and light roast notes give it a distinctive lager profile.
OUR BREWING, based in Fukui City, has introduced its new beer, Tasty Combination. The beer is an American Amber Lager, combining a toasty malt aroma with hop notes reminiscent of Muscat grapes and apricots. According to the brewery’s Instagram announcement, it offers malt sweetness and roast character in a distinct amber-colored lager.
The release is part of OUR BREWING’s project in which taproom staff participate in brewing. The second beer in the series was developed by Takayama, known by the nickname Hiroki, who is responsible for food at the taproom. His role gives him daily insight into how guests enjoy beer with food, and that perspective shaped the recipe.
The concept was to create a lager that would feel familiar to Japanese drinkers while offering a more distinctive malt and hop presence. The brewery says the beer was designed with substantial dishes, including pizza, in mind. The malt’s toasted character and the hop aroma are intended to complement food rather than overwhelm it.
Brewer Nakanishi also noted that the recipe brings malt sweetness more clearly to the front than many hop-driven beers. A small amount of roasted malt—around 0.5 percent—was used to emphasize the malt character and add a gentle roast impression.
OUR BREWING operates a brewery and taproom inside MINIE near Fukui Station. Its 1,000-liter brewing system and seven fermentation tanks support a steady rotation of beers. With its focus on creating connections through beer, the brewery’s Tasty Combination brings together the perspectives of the taproom, food service and brewing teams in a lager made to be enjoyed at the table.
