On Wednesday, April 1, Inage-kaigan started off rainy after the regular closing day, but two new kegs were tapped at WORLD BEER&DINING MIHAMA BASE (Mihama Base). The shop holds a general liquor retail license, so it supports not only drinks in the store, but also takeout in bottles and cans.

The first beer drawing attention is Belching Beaver Phantom Bride IPA. Brewed in collaboration with Deftones, this American IPA features a hop bill built around Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic. It has a medium body with a mellow, smooth mouthfeel. The hop bitterness and malt sweetness fit together well, and it finishes dry, making it an easy beer to keep drinking.

The other keg is West Coast Brewing Westie Bois. This West Coast IPA, made in collaboration with Future Brewing, brings a dank aroma to the forefront, layered with refreshing cucumber-like notes, citrusy grapefruit character, and tropical nuances of passion fruit and pineapple. The flavor follows the aroma with a smooth, clean bitterness, and the overall balance is excellent.

That day's tap lineup also includes GUINNESS, KIRIN HEARTLAND, Hoegaarden White, Los Angels Ale Works Full Thrust Double IPA, STONE Hazy IPA, Deschutes Hop Krush Hazy IPA, and Sierra Nevada Springfest IPA, offering a broad range from classics to hop-forward IPAs. It is a lineup well suited to a day when you want to take your time and compare beers in Inage-kaigan.
