Teenage Brewing, based in Tokigawa, Saitama, highlighted its collaboration beer Yama Haze ahead of Fuji to Hood, the Japan/Oregon collaboration festival taking place in Portland on July 18. The beer is a joint release with Threshold Brewing & Blending and will be featured at the event, which rotates biennially between Tokyo and Portland and brings together beer, cider, sake, food, music, art, and performance.

Yama Haze is listed as a 7% hazy IPA built around sake kasu, or sake lees, a byproduct of sake production. The festival's beer list says the ingredient adds fruity notes and a smooth mouthfeel, working alongside the fruity, juicy hops typical of the style. The result is a beer that ties a distinctly Japanese ingredient to a style closely associated with modern hop-forward brewing.

For Teenage Brewing, the release places a brewery from Tokigawa on a Portland stage and adds another international collaboration to its lineup.
