Himitsu Beer shares an Oregon cider trip and its summer peach ale Momotobi Penguin
Himitsu Beer, a farmhouse brewery in Ise, Mie, says its latest U.S. trip included a cider-making collaboration in Oregon and the return of Momotobi Penguin, a peach-forward seasonal ale.
Himitsu Beer is a farmhouse brewery based in Ise, Mie, known for brewing with local ingredients while also growing plants and fruits for its recipes. In the latest post, the brewery looked back on a U.S. business trip taken two years after its previous one. On that earlier trip, the team was sent to secondary screening at immigration; this time, entry was smooth, giving the trip a much easier start. In Oregon, the brewery worked with a cider maker to make cider, and it plans to share what it learned from the experience.
The post also introduces the return of Momotobi Penguin, a summer release that has changed style. The beer comes in at 6% ABV and is now brewed as a Peach Farmhouse Ale. According to the brewery, it is a juicy, peach-heavy fruit beer with a farmhouse-ale base, layered with sweet-tart peach character, fruit esters, and a subtle spicy note. A higher proportion of wheat malt gives it a pale, hazy appearance and a smooth texture that makes it feel closer to drinking peach juice.
The brewery suggests pairing it with fluffy pancakes topped with fruit sauce or cream, or with casual snacks like fries. The label was designed by @baxsmus_chiezoo. The post ties together travel, collaboration, and a seasonal beer release in a way that reflects the brewery's style and focus.
