Great Dane Brewing has announced its participation in the Nagamachi Autumn Cheering Festival, taking place on October 3 and 4, 2026.
The event will be held at the west plaza of JR Nagamachi Station in Sendai’s Taihaku Ward from noon to 5 p.m. both days. As part of the NAGAMACHI COLLAB ACTION 2026 regional revitalization program, the venue will host public viewings of the Sendai 89ERS’ away games against Levanga Hokkaido. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the program also featuring performances by the Sendai 89ERS Cheers, a youth cheer class, and appearances by the team mascot Tina. Food vendors from the Nagamachi shopping district and sponsor companies will also be present.
Great Dane Brewing will join the food and beverage lineup, giving visitors an opportunity to pair basketball viewing with locally brewed beer.
The brewery traces its roots to a brand founded in Wisconsin, USA, in 1994. In January 2024, it opened a brewery in Akiu, Taihaku Ward, Sendai, under the motto “Wisconsin Born, Sendai Brewed.” Its brewing approach combines established beer traditions, carefully selected ingredients, and modern techniques.
Its lineup includes Akiu Pilsner, Scotch Ale, Everyday IPA, and Great Lager. The Akiu brewery also operates a restaurant that pairs its beers with dishes made using Miyagi ingredients.
For beer fans and basketball supporters alike, the festival offers a chance to enjoy a Sendai-brewed pint while cheering on the 89ERS in Nagamachi. The event may be canceled in the event of severe weather.
