New Release: "Kesennuma Oyster Stout 2026"

And Beer Katsunuma Brewery announced the new beer in an official Instagram post, "New beer released!!!" The beer's name is Kesennuma Oyster Stout 2026. In the post, the style is listed as Oyster Stout and the alcohol content as 5.3%.

Designed to Highlight the Flavor of Oysters

According to the post, the beer uses fresh oysters harvested in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture. The malt bill centers on pilsner malt, combined with wheat malt and chocolate malt, creating a recipe that layers malty depth with the umami of oysters.

This season, the brewery took the process a step further than before and adopted a step of simmering whole oysters in the shell for 60 minutes during the boil. The recipe is designed for a rich mouthfeel, with aromas reminiscent of oyster hot pot blending with the malt aroma.

Rolling Out at Company-Run Taprooms

It will be served sequentially at And Beer’s company-run taprooms:
- andbeer_koenji (Koenji)
- olla_andbeer_asagaya (Asagaya)
- andbeer_yamanashi (Yamanashi)
where it will be available until sold out. In addition, keg sales for restaurants have begun through the business-use e-commerce site.

The Context of This Glass at Katsunuma Brewery

And Beer was founded in Koenji, Tokyo in 2017, and now brews in Katsunuma, a region known for wine production. Its official website also shows that the brewery operates around its Katsunuma brewing base and multiple company-run taprooms.

For a brewery that continues to embrace the character of local places, this seasonal beer themed around seafood from Kesennuma seems like a release that lets drinkers experience the intersection of local ingredients and craft beer.
