Two new German-style beers on tap

Beer Pub Nekoto Azarashi in Mitaka, Tokyo, announced two new kegs for its October 6 service, open from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The new arrivals are Daisen G Beer’s Weizen and Ushitora Brewery’s “苦そうで苦くない 少し苦いシュバルツ,” a Schwarzbier whose name translates roughly to “looks bitter, but isn’t—slightly bitter Schwarz.” The pub also noted that it plans to expand its German-style selection.

The day’s tap list featured 10 beers across a broad range of styles. The lineup began with And Beer’s “Azarashi Pilsner Okawari,” followed by Bier Herun’s “Living Happy Drinking IPA,” Hideji Beer’s “Kyushu CRAFT Kabosu,” Yokohama Beer’s Pale Ale, and Iwatekura Beer’s Golden Ale. Also available were GROUNDTAP BREWERY’s “GROUNDTAP RED,” Ushitora Brewery’s “Kan Muryo,” and And Beer’s Peach Gose.

A limited food menu item, chicken skin with ponzu, was available alongside the beer selection. The crisp, chilled dish offered a natural match for the early-autumn tap list. The pub also announced that reservations for a late-month Oktoberfest event were gradually filling, with bookings accepted in person, by message, or by email. For drinkers looking to explore varied Japanese craft beer in a relaxed Mitaka beer-pub setting, the new German-style pours provide a clear reason to stop by.
