Sakazuki Lab to Hold a Citrus Festival from April 22, Serving Homemade Biseikan Sour and More
Sakazuki Lab in Adachi, Tokyo, will hold a "Citrus Festival" starting April 22. The lineup will include a homemade Biseikan sour, the yuzu-scented sake-yeast beer "Hatsukaze," and a tankan ale, offering drinks made with seasonal citrus.
Sakazuki Lab in Adachi, Tokyo, announced on Instagram that it will hold a "Citrus Festival". The event will run from Wednesday, April 22, until sold out. In the post, the shop said it will gather and serve drinks and beers made with citrus fruits in line with the seasonal produce enjoyed from spring into early summer.
The featured item this time is the homemade Biseikan sour. Biseikan, also known as Kawachi Bankan, is a Japanese citrus with the clean, refreshing character of a Japanese grapefruit. Sakazuki Lab says it has turned that brightness into a sour.
For beer, the shop will offer in-house brewed yuzu sake-yeast beer "Hatsukaze" and in-house brewed tankan ale. "Hatsukaze" is characterized by the gentle aroma of yuzu, and can be enjoyed together with the delicate acidity derived from sake yeast. The tankan ale is described as having a sweet, rich flavor, making for a lineup that feels true to the shop, which turns seasonal citrus directly into drinks.
Sakazuki Lab is known as a shop centered on craft beer and Japanese snacks, and together with its sister shop Sakazuki Brewing, it has created a place where beer fans can enjoy the changing expressions of the seasons. This Citrus Festival also seems set to offer a way to enjoy drinks with food while carefully bringing out the character of each fruit.
The post also noted that on April 29 (holiday, Wednesday), the shop will open at 1:00 p.m.. As the season for citrus aromas arrives, it will be worth watching what combinations turn up in a drink in Adachi, Tokyo.
