Kagoya Brewery releases canned lager "Enmusubi," nurtured with the people of Komae
Kagoya Brewery, run by the local sake specialty shop "Kagoya" in Komae City, has turned its community-connected lager beer "Enmusubi -enmusubi-" into a product. With a clear barley sweetness and a crisp finish, it is a Komae-born brew offered in 350 ml cans.
A Lager Connected to the Community
"Enmusubi -enmusubi-", which appears at the top of Kagoya Brewery's product lineup, is a lager beer made by Kagoya, the local sake specialty shop in Komae City. In the product description, it is introduced as a "town beer" cultivated together with the people of Komae. The style is a traditional Helles, and its defining features are a clear barley sweetness and a crisp, clean finish. It is listed as a 350 ml can for 550 yen including tax.
Kagoya Brewery was launched in 2017 as Komae City's first brewery, built on the foundation of Kagoya Akimoto Shoten, a long-established liquor store founded in 1902. Based on the discerning eye it had developed as a specialty shop for local sake, it has continued brewing craft beer in small batches and in a wide variety of styles, while also pursuing distinctive methods such as using wooden barrels inspired by sake breweries.
This new "Enmusubi" can be seen as a regionally rooted beer that emerged from that flow. What stands out is not only its individuality as a new release, but also the concept of connecting the shop and the town, and the brewer and the drinker. It is not the kind of beer that pushes itself with flashiness, but rather a proposal that feels true to Kagoya Brewery's aim of creating a lager that goes with everyday meals.
