A commemorative beer for a milestone year

Gotojozo, the brewpub in Kyodo, Setagaya, Tokyo, has marked its 10th anniversary. In an Instagram post, the brewery said July 22 is the milestone date and that its “10th Anniversary Month” will continue through July 31.

In the fifth post of the series, Gotojozo announced that it has tapped 10th Anniversary HAZY IPA. The post also notes that the beer is available in limited quantities and that store pickup reservations and shipping are not offered.

Ten years in Kyodo

According to the brewery’s official website, Gotojozo opened as a beer bar in July 2016, run by a husband-and-wife team. In July 2017, it obtained its brewing license, and in September of that year it began selling its first house beer, Kyodo Ale. Bottled beer sales followed in 2018, and Kyodo Ale was selected as a Setagaya souvenir in 2019.

The brewpub is located about a three-minute walk from Kyodo Station and has built a reputation as a small, neighborhood-focused craft beer spot. Over the years, its core beer has remained Kyodo Ale, while seasonal releases and anniversary beers have added variety to the lineup.

Anniversary details inside the shop

The Instagram post also says a 10-year beer history display has been set up inside the shop. For the anniversary, Gotojozo has prepared small commemorative items as well, including Tirol Choco for gifts and children, plus shot glasses for sale.

The brewery is also collecting memories and impressions from customers through July 22, creating a low-key anniversary program centered on the people who have supported the brewery over the past decade. Rather than a large-scale event, the approach reflects the brewery’s neighborhood taproom identity and its long relationship with local drinkers.
