About Tono Brewing

Tono Brewing is a brewery based in Tono, Iwate. On its official site, the company describes its mission as building a new beer culture in Tono, drawing on the area’s rich water sources, the surrounding Tono mountain range, and a 50-year history of hop cultivation. The brewery emphasizes open, collaborative brewing with local producers and residents.

Its taproom, a three-minute walk from Tono Station, serves house beer on six taps and offers seasonal styles alongside food such as pizza and fish and chips. The brewery’s presence in Tokyo gives drinkers a chance to connect its beers with the landscape and brewing culture of Tono.

Why It Matters

This appearance gives Tono Brewing a chance to present its beers alongside other Iwate breweries in front of a Tokyo audience. For beer drinkers, it is also a rare opportunity to taste draft beers from across the prefecture in one place while exploring the food and culture of Iwate at the same event.
