Brewmaster Storehouse is a new concept created by Hidenori Kato of Fukuoka's long-established brewery, Brewmaster. It's on the first floor of Lalaport Fukuoka, but the key point is that it's not just a place to buy beer.

A brewery inside a shopping mall? What do you mean?

The concept is 'a journey-like experience through encounters with books and alcoholic drinks from around the world,' and they have a nano-brewery inside the store. In other words, they actually brew small-batch original beer inside the shopping mall.

Wait, they're brewing inside the mall?! A journey with books and drinks sounds so interesting!

And it's not just beer. They also sell wine and shochu by measure. You can try as much or as little as you want, so it's perfect for anyone who just wants to sample a bit. The shop itself is designed as 'Serendipity World,' a space meant to enjoy chance encounters.

By measure! It's great to be able to try a little of lots of different things!

They also hold pop-up events every month, with famous breweries and sake makers from all over Japan opening for limited periods. So every time you visit, you can discover different drinks. If Brewmaster's main brewery in Jonan Ward is the 'place of making,' then Storehouse is the 'place of encounters.'

If a different brewery comes every month, I'd want to keep going!

Because it's a nano-brewery, the point is that they have limited-batch beers you can only drink here. Brewmaster is famous for fruit beers like 'Kabosu & Honey' and 'Amaou Noble Sweet,' but Storehouse is also a place where they can take on more experimental brewing.

Craft beer limited editions right alongside shopping at Lalaport... that's amazing! I'm definitely stopping by on my next trip to Fukuoka!
