Do you know Chofu Beer Works? It's Chofu's first microbrewery, and the owner-brewer, Kaoru Ikemori, has an insane background.

Huh, insane how?
Hop Bro
In his early 20s, he was a freestyle ski moguls athlete. At 27, he switched to the food and beverage industry, trained in French cuisine, and went independent at 30. He ran several restaurants in Chofu City.
Mugi
From moguls athlete to French cuisine and then beer?! That's an enormous range!
Hop Bro
In 2015, he spent three months training at Tochigi Microbrewery to learn brewing, and from January 2016 he started selling his home-brewed beer under the 'St. Robinson' series. He calls his own beer 'Hand Work BEER.'
Mugi
What kind of beer is St. Robinson?
Hop Bro
The representative one is the ESB-style 'St. Robinson Maria.' It has a bright aroma and is hoppy, but the bitterness isn't too strong, and the malt sweetness provides a pleasant balance. There's also 'St. Robinson Nectarine Sour,' a fruit beer made with nectarines from Yamanashi Prefecture, which is also really interesting.

A nectarine sour beer! I want to try it!
Hop Bro
Because he came from a culinary background, he has a great sense for combining ingredients. Rather than endlessly brewing a flagship beer, he keeps releasing limited-edition beers that combine various domestic ingredients. The bottles apparently sell out quickly as soon as they're released.
Mugi
Wow! What is the place like?
Hop Bro
It's a standing taproom, a 4-minute walk from Kokuryo Station, with a cash-on style. Their affiliated place, Jackson Hole, is a diner bar themed around Wyoming cowboy culture, and you can drink St. Robinson there with the signature 'Jackson Burger.'

A moguls athlete who trained in French cuisine, makes beer, and serves burgers... this person can do anything! I want to go!
