Uokin Brewery is the core brewing arm of the Uokin Group. On the second floor of the East Mall at Shibuya Mark City, right outside the Inokashira Line ticket gates, there is a 90-seat brewpub.
Mugi
90 seats!? It is that big and directly connected to the station? I usually think of them as an izakaya chain.

Uokin is a group founded in Shinbashi in 1995 by Nobuyoshi Kanehara. They originally operated more than 50 seafood izakaya, but in 2019 they took the step into brewing with the idea, 'Let's brew beer that goes with our own fish.'
Mugi
A beer-brewing decision from a chain with 50 izakaya locations is pretty bold.

And what is amazing is the lineup of all 8 varieties. The flagship is the hazy pale ale 'Ran&Ran,' which is fruity, refreshing, and crisp. The red IPA 'Mugiame' is 5% ABV, with a perfect balance of malty aroma and hop bitterness. The double IPA 'Kakusei' is 7.5% ABV and hits hard.
Mugi
That name, 'Kakusei,' and 7.5% ABV really do go together, huh? (laughs)

What's even more adventurous is 'Mitarashi Black.' It's a milk stout with a sweet soy-sauce-like mitarashi flavor, and it's 5.5%. They also have 'Kyobacha Gold,' a tea ale, and 'Tipsy,' which uses seasonal fruit and comes in at 6%.
Mugi
What is that! A mitarashi-flavored stout!? A tea ale!? That is completely Japanese-style!
Hop Bro
That is exactly Uokin's true strength. Because they are a Japanese cuisine restaurant, the idea of folding Japanese ingredients into beer comes naturally. And on top of that, all-you-can-drink craft beer starts at just 1,100 yen for one hour. You only need to order one food item.
Mugi
All-you-can-drink craft beer with 8 varieties for that price!? While snacking on sashimi delivered straight from Toyosu? There is no reason not to go!
