Yachiyo Brewery has only just opened, but they are already releasing aggressive beers nonstop, and I can't take my eyes off them.
Mugi
Oh! And it's only been about a year? What kinds are they making?
Hop Bro
First up is "Yurushite IPA." It's a Double IPA at 7.5% ABV with an outrageous IBU of 200. Apparently it also comes in with a huge burst of citrus aroma, and true to its name, it's the kind of beer that makes you want to say, "Please forgive me."
Mugi
IBU 200!? Yurushite... lol That naming sense is amazing.
Hop Bro
Then there's a Pale Ale called "Yuttari Ale," which goes in the opposite direction. It has peach and tropical fruit aromas with a light bitterness, designed to be enjoyed leisurely in spring. The range is huge.
Mugi
Yuttari Ale... even the name is soothing. Anything else unusual?
Hop Bro
A recent release, "Lager, Yet IPA," is also really interesting. It's a Cold IPA at 6.5%. It's the brewery's first lager-style beer, but they turned the contradiction of "lager, yet IPA" right into the name.
Mugi
What is that! lol Lager, yet IPA? So which is it?
Hop Bro
A Cold IPA is an IPA fermented at low temperatures with lager yeast, a style that balances lager-like cleanliness with IPA hop character. As Yachiyo City's only brewery, they run a brewpub near Katsutadai Station and always have 4 to 6 beers on tap across 6 taps.
Mugi
Releasing new beers at this pace just one year after opening is seriously impressive.
Hop Bro
And dropping a Cold IPA right before their anniversary event shows how bold they are. You can drink the freshly brewed beer at their attached brewpub, so if you go to Katsutadai, definitely stop by.
Mugi
I want to compare Yurushite IPA and Yuttari Ale! The names alone are fun!
