There’s a brewery run by a married couple near the east exit in Kasukabe. It’s called "UNLOCK Brew BASE". They opened in April 2025 and started brewing their own beer in December of the same year.

What, a brewery run by a couple!? What kind of people are they?
Hop Bro
It’s Mr. Masanobu Taguchi and Ms. Yoko Taguchi. They’ve lived in Kasukabe for years, and it all started from their love for the area and their desire to enliven the east exit. One of Yoko’s lines really stands out: "We want to deliver a well-earned beer at the end of the day."
Mugi
Wow, they started it for the local community... that alone makes me want to support them.

Their first self-brewed beer was "SMaSH Pale Ale." SMaSH stands for Single Malt and Single Hop, and they’re going head-to-head with just English malt and a single American hop. Because the character of the ingredients comes through directly, it’s a style that really tests the brewer’s skill.
Mugi
What! So there’s nowhere to hide? That takes guts for the first beer they made.
Hop Bro
Exactly. Masanobu said he wants to make beer with a malty character that suits the taste of people in Kasukabe, so instead of a flashy hop bomb, they’re aiming for a direction where the flavor of the barley really carries the drink.

Recently I think I saw "Flower Over Red Bean Paste -SAKURAMOCHI ALE-" on social media too!
Hop Bro
That’s the one! It’s a saison base at 6.5% ABV, and it uses domestic cherry leaves, aiming for a sakuramochi-like character without leaning too heavily into sweetness. They also released a classic saison called "Cours Saison," and you can really see their simple, no-frills approach.

What’s the atmosphere of the place like?
Hop Bro
It’s a small space of about 15 tsubo, finished with diatomaceous earth and old wood, with a dim interior. It feels like a secret base, and it can hold around 15 people at most. From the east exit of Kasukabe Station, it’s about a 7-minute walk along Takamushi Otsuka-dori. They also seem to be appearing at the "Sakura Blooming Marche" at Furutone Park Bridge on March 29.

Sakura-mochi ale while enjoying the cherry blossoms... that’s amazing! I want to go!
