Craft Beer & Wine THE DODO HOUSE in Meguro announced a new tap on June 22: Shimanami Brewery’s “Lager no Gyakushuu 01 Smoke Lager.” The bar is open from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, giving guests a place to slow down and enjoy a rotating beer board even on a damp rainy-season day.

The new Smoke Lager is described as lightly smoky, with soft malt sweetness and a savory, dashi-like character. According to the bar’s notes, it is lighter than a classic rauchbier and versatile enough to pair well with meat dishes. It is also the first release in Shimanami Brewery’s new series, which makes it a beer to watch beyond this single tap.

Other beers on the board include Yamaguchi Beer’s “Pale Ale,” Harvestmoon’s “Pilsner,” Kankiku Brewery’s “Soyokaze,” Be Easy Brewing’s “Nigoratto,” Johana Beer’s “Hikiyama Black,” and Uchoten Brewing’s “Aria.” With lager, pale ale, pilsner, and dark beer in the mix, the selection is broad enough for side-by-side tasting.

THE DODO HOUSE also notes that bench seating does not require a charge, drinks can be served in plastic takeaway cups, and takeout is available. It is a practical Meguro beer pub for a casual pint, a quick stop, or a longer tasting session.
