Collaboration overview

DD4D BREWING, based in Matsuyama, Ehime, has announced a limited beer for Takanoko Hotel and Takanoko no Yu: Yuagari Sour Ale. The release is built around the idea of a post-bath drink, tying the beer's name to the relaxed moment after hot spring or sauna use.

Flavor and specs

The beer is a Sour Ale at 5.0% ABV and 20 IBU. Its base is a gentle lactic acidity, with juice and peel from Ehime-grown iyokan and kawachi bankan adding bright citrus character. The finish reportedly leaves malt notes reminiscent of honey and caramel. The recipe also uses Cascade and Columbus hops, plus PALE ALE, Melanoidin Malt, and Cara Malt.

Availability

Sales begin at the front desk of Takanoko Hotel from June 26, with rollout starting at the in-house vending machine at Takanoko no Yu from July 1. DD4D says the beer will not be sold at its own stores.
