Shonan Beer’s new "Sansho IPA" arrives

Shonan Beer’s new "Sansho IPA" will go on sale on Wednesday, June 3 at "Kuramoto Ryori Tensei" in Kagawa, Chigasaki City. The post notes that sales for both the dine-in menu and takeout at Tensei are still undecided.

This beer is a herbal spice ale with 6.0% ABV. It uses Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops and is brewed as a collaboration beer with Widmer Brothers Brewing. A major feature is that it uses two kinds of sansho: powdered sansho and leaf sansho. The leaf sansho is used to draw out aroma in the whirlpool after the boil, while the powdered sansho is added at the dry-hop stage. The result combines the refreshing character of sansho with the aroma of American hops.

"Kuramoto Ryori Tensei" is a restaurant on the grounds of Kumazawa Sake Brewery, where you can enjoy food and drinks that only a brewery-run place can offer. This bottle, designed with compatibility for Japanese food in mind, should offer a flavor that stays close to the meal from the first burst of aroma through the finish. How will Shonan Beer’s sense of playfulness blend with the distinct character of sansho? It is a new release that makes you want to try it on the day it goes on sale.
